Six malicious commits pushed to main on September 21 with a compromised git credential were reverted the same day in #6620 and have since been removed from the history of main. None were ever published to npm. The npm provenance for 4.6.6 names 284243fb, the pre-rewrite copy of 9c219833 with identical contents.

What this changes

This PR updates the locked production dependency Zod from 4.6.5 to 4.6.7.

Example: Install clawpatch dependencies using the committed lockfile.

  • Before: The installation resolves Zod 4.6.5.
  • After: The installation resolves Zod 4.6.7.

Review scores

Measure Result What it means
Overall readiness 🦐 gold shrimp (3/6) The patch is minimal and source review found no defect, but exact-head runtime and test validation has not completed.
Proof confidence 🌊 off-meta tidepool Not applicable: This Dependabot-authored dependency update is outside the ordinary contributor-proof gate; no shipped-entry-point execution is claimed.
Patch quality 🐚 platinum hermit (4/6) No actionable review findings were identified.

Product

Kind: Maintenance · Worth it: Yes · Fix scope: Complete
User problem: The reproducible dependency installation remains on an older Zod patch release.
Reason: A narrow patch update follows the established dependency-maintenance direction without introducing options or changing clawpatch's product contract.

Merge readiness

✅ Ready for maintainer review

Keep this PR open: main still locks Zod 4.6.5, and this is a focused dependency update with no concrete defect found; runtime and dependency checks remain queued.

Tests

  • Missing end-to-end proof: No installed-CLI validation with Zod 4.6.7 is supplied; the Dependabot PR is outside the ordinary contributor-proof gate.

How this fits together

Zod validates configuration, persisted workspace records, and provider output, and generates provider-facing JSON schemas.

Technical review

Best possible solution:

Land the minimal lockfile update once the existing runtime, test, and dependency checks pass.

Do we have a high-confidence way to reproduce the issue?

This is dependency maintenance rather than a reported clawpatch bug; inspection confirms the version change without running target code.

Is this the best way to solve the issue?

The lockfile-only patch is the smallest complete update within the existing dependency range and preserves application schemas, defaults, and runtime requirements.

AGENTS.md: found and applied where relevant.

Codex review notes: model internal, reasoning medium; reviewed against 610a26db8437.

Provenance checked

  • Locked Zod version keeps the original intent (917bcf0: The prior merged refresh updated eligible dependencies while preserving Node 22 compatibility and the 48-hour dependency release-age policy.)

Testing

Proof path: none.

Security

None.

Evidence

What I checked:

  • Exact introduced change and main comparison: The pinned diff changes only the importer version, package integrity entry, and snapshot key; main still resolves 4.6.5 within the unchanged ^4.6.5 manifest range. (pnpm-lock.yaml:23, c1e2d72ac008)
  • Dependency contract and compatibility: Direct Zod imports establish the dependency-policy boundary. Existing persisted schemas and defaults are unchanged; their collections have no upper-size checks that activate the new early-rejection behavior. Provider output validation and JSON-schema generation retain their existing owners. (src/types.ts:1, 610a26db8437)
  • Upstream behavior and policy inspected: The version comparison changes record type declarations and adds early upper-size rejection for arrays, maps, and sets. The dependency's complete root AGENTS.md was read; its source-edit and repository-development requirements do not require changes to this consumer-only lockfile update. (packages/zod/src/v4/core/schemas.ts, b500a2ee9513)
  • Release and supply-chain context: Zod 4.6.7 was released on October 12, satisfying clawpatch's 48-hour release-age policy. Its npm metadata integrity matches the new lockfile value, names the release commit, and adds no dependencies or installation lifecycle scripts. The preceding release notice states that the compromised Git commits were removed and never published to npm. (b500a2ee9513)
  • Prior dependency intent and ownership: The merged dependency refresh at build(deps): refresh eligible tooling and security scanners #222 established the current Zod version while preserving Node 22 and the release-age policy. Repeated dependency-refresh history routes this area to Peter Steinberger. Local content-history searches encountered unavailable historical blobs, so no unsupported introduction claim is made. (pnpm-lock.yaml:23, 917bcf0f85c8)
  • Discussion and current validation: The complete comments contain review-status messages and no behavior proof or owner objection. Exact-head checks show one success and ten queued checks, including Node runtime, tests, and dependency review; queued checks establish no diff-caused failure. (c1e2d72ac008)
