refactor: Split CaptivePortalInstance into focused units - #551
The instance file had grown to ~1200 lines mixing HTTP helpers, API handlers, static file serving and WebSocket plumbing. Move each into its own unit, leaving the instance with the httpd/DNS lifecycle and route order:
WebSocketEndpoint: /ws route, client table, reassembly, send queue and drain
StaticFileServer: static partition mount, ETag handling and asset serving
ApiHandlers: /api/* handlers and the account link task
HttpUtils: status strings, response, query and form helpers
The instance keeps its public methods as forwarders, so Manager.cpp is unchanged. Moved code is otherwise unchanged, except that its logs now use per-unit tags and the static filesystem unmounts in its destructor, still after httpd_stop.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
The captive portal now supports Wi-Fi scanning and network management, account linking, RF pin configuration, and OTA settings and checks.
WebSocket connections support messages and updates about available Wi-Fi networks.
Portal pages support compressed delivery, browser caching, and conditional refreshes.
Improvements
Portal requests validate submitted values and report errors for invalid or unavailable operations.
When portal files are unavailable, visitors receive a help page. Unknown paths redirect to the connectivity-check page.

Walkthrough
The captive portal’s API handlers, HTTP utilities, static-file server, and WebSocket endpoint now reside in separate components. CaptivePortalInstance delegates registration and WebSocket operations to those components. The filesystem component exposes the mounted partition through LfsPartition and removes StaticFs.

HTTP helpers parse query and form values, receive request bodies, and send responses. Registered routes provide portal, Wi-Fi, account, RF pin, and OTA operations.
StaticFileServer mounts and serves the static partition, including compressed assets and optional ETags. LfsPartition exposes the mounted partition, and StaticFs is removed. Filesystem and littlefs component descriptions are updated.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 23.81% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 63 functions across 12 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Drop the StaticFs facade: it only forwarded to LfsPartition, and the
captive portal was its sole user. StaticFileServer now owns an
LfsPartition directly, and LfsPartition exposes the partition it is
mounted on so the handler can look up the image hash itself.
Static file handling:
- The per-partition SHA-256 is cached once per boot in a small table
instead of being recomputed per instance; hashing happens with the
table mutex released.
- Content negotiation: a client that accepts gzip (RFC 9110 §12.5.3,
including q=0 and wildcard handling) is offered /www/<path>.gz first;
anyone else, or a path with no .gz, gets the plain /www/<path>. The
two representations carry distinct ETags and Vary: Accept-Encoding.
- The mount check accepts either index.html.gz or index.html.
- A ".." in the request path is refused with 400 instead of being
answered like a captive probe.
- The request URI is handled as a string_view; the only allocation is
the final filesystem path.
- The missing-image help page moves to its own handler, selected once
at registration.

- Directories no longer drop the connection. The existence check was a
bare lfs_stat, which succeeds for directories, and littlefs collapses
"//" and "." segments, so "GET //", "GET /." or any directory path
passed the check, failed in lfs_file_open and returned ESP_FAIL with
nothing sent. LfsPartition gains fileSize(), which only answers for
regular files; non-files take the captive redirect like any other
unknown path.
- Response headers are committed with the first chunk, so a failure
before anything is on the wire (open, buffer allocation) gets a clean
500 instead of a closed socket.
- HEAD is served: same lookup, validator and headers as GET, with
Content-Length from the stat and no body (RFC 9110 §9.3.2). httpd has
no bodiless send, so the response head is written with httpd_send.
- 304 repeats ETag, Vary and Cache-Control (RFC 9110 §15.4.5).
- An empty Accept-Encoding means identity only; it was treated like an
absent header. httpd's value lookup distinguishes the two.
- x-gzip is accepted as an alias of gzip (RFC 9110 §8.4.1.3).
…accept
The static image only ships pre-compressed assets, so a request that
excludes gzip (Accept-Encoding: gzip;q=0, identity, or an empty header)
found no plain file and was redirected to the portal root, i.e. back to
the same URL. No acceptable representation exists in that case, and there
is no inflater on the device, so answer 406 (RFC 9110 §12.5.3). Plain
files are still served whenever the image has them.
