USB PID: wait for B1CE allocation, then update shipped identifiers #993
pidcodes/pidcodes.github.com#1284 requests 1209:B1CE. The request is still open and unmerged. Do not submit another request or install the requested PID before allocation.
The current firmware, WebUSB filter and Linux udev rule still use 1209:0001.
After approval:
Update the firmware descriptors, WebUSB filter and Linux udev rule in one PR.
Check the spec transport binding and Windows interface assumptions for values that must change. The GUID is a separate identity; do not infer a new GUID from the PID.
Verify the affected transport/filter checks.
No dual-ID acceptance period is needed: no consumer devices have shipped. Allocation remains a distribution gate. Physical Windows/Linux transport checks stay in #994.
Requested on 2026-09-22: pidcodes/pidcodes.github.com#1284 asks for 1209:B1CE (their validator and HTML proofer pass; 0xxx and 1xxx are reserved, which is why the first attempt at 0BC0 was refused). When it merges, land B1CE in the four places this issue names in one PR: the firmware descriptors, the WebUSB filter, the udev rule and the spec's transport binding; no dual-accept period is needed, nothing has shipped.
