Summary

  • Give every node in the governance chart an icon, a one-line description of what the group does, and a headcount
  • Show the faces of the people currently in each role, read from the people page, next to the count
  • Collapse the three core sub-teams into a chip row, since the document describes only one of them
  • Widen the Core Governance column so the steering council card fits, and fix the mobile stack, where the row flex-basis was setting box heights

Each box now carries an icon, a line on what the group does, and the faces
of the people who currently hold the role, so the chart reads on its own
rather than as a stack of empty rectangles.

@josenimo this is work in progress but is something like this what you had in mind? I'll also try to reduce the text a bit and maybe replace the names below the boxes with the Github icons as well for consistency.

This looks much better!

I agree that for the names below would prefer github profile pics.
I really like that when clicking on the people it links to the people site already filtered :)

What bothers me here is the empty space below core dev / core community
What if you vstack Core Developers and Core Community; and the have Core Governance where it is.
Even though I feel there is plenty of nestedness going on, I can still follow the structure clearly.

Core Developers and Core Community share a column so the taller council
card beside them no longer leaves a hole, the rosters under each section
carry the same GitHub portraits as the chart, and the node descriptions
are a line shorter.

@josenimo we are likely to display peoples teams memberships in more detail in the future and then this would have looked better. But as suggested, I simplified it now and I think it looks fine.

something seems broken with the people links on the production site:

@grst I cannot reproduce this. It looks fine on production for me. Can you do a hard refresh? Browser etc?
