Changes

The mobile username field collapsed to 21px because a later flex rule overrode the stacked layout. Theme choices wrapped at unrelated positions based on their text length. Give the input and buttons a 48px minimum touch height, align themes in a responsive grid using native radio controls without selected-row borders or backgrounds, and match the input and Generate button at 16px. Keep Copy, Download, and Share purple, with balanced padding, 8px rounded corners, and 44px touch targets. Add accessible form/group labels and focus indicators, restore page zoom, and prevent narrow-screen overflow.

Update Next.js 13 → 16.4.3, React 18 → 19.3.1, Cheerio, analytics, and supporting dependencies. Pin Node.js 24 and Yarn 1.22.22, refresh the lockfile, and add CI for the production build and regression tests. Keep the existing Pages Router and chart renderer.

Live verification also exposed two existing API bugs: calendar cells are ordered by weekday, so using the first/last DOM cells as range boundaries could omit late-December activity; nested output used the first year's wrapper as its accumulator and threw for profiles with no years. Derive bounds from sorted dates and initialize the nested accumulator with an empty object.

Validation

  • Production build and frozen-lockfile installation pass.
  • 16 Playwright checks pass across desktop Chromium and mobile WebKit in light/dark mode: widths from 320–1280px, keyboard selection/focus, all 14 themes, PNG/JSON downloads, and missing-profile recovery.
  • 3 API regression tests reproduced the existing failures before the fix and now pass.
  • Visual inspection at 320px, 390px, and desktop widths in light/dark mode; mobile input now measures 48px.
  • Live /api/v1/sallar returned 16 years / 5,844 days; verified every year's range against its actual dates.
  • Yarn audit reports zero known vulnerabilities; formatting and git diff --check pass.

Physical iPhone testing and native share/clipboard permission flows have not been performed. This PR changes the required runtime to Node.js 24; production rollout remains a separate step.

Walkthrough

The project updates its runtime and test setup, adds API and browser tests with CI execution, corrects contribution date-range ordering, and changes interface markup and styling for accessibility and responsive layouts.

Changes: Application quality and validation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Runtime and test pipeline
.nvmrc, package.json, playwright.config.js, .github/workflows/ci.yml, .gitignore, README.md
The project specifies Node.js 24 and Yarn 1.22.22, adds API and Playwright test commands, and configures CI to run API tests, build the app, and run browser tests. The README documents setup, deployment, and test commands.
Contribution parsing and API tests
src/utils/api/fetch.js, tests/api.test.mjs
Contribution dates are sorted before the API derives range endpoints. Nested contribution merging uses an empty initial accumulator. API tests cover date ordering, output formats, and profiles without year links.
Accessible responsive interface and browser tests
src/components/themes.js, src/pages/_app.js, src/pages/_document.js, src/pages/index.js, src/styles/App.css, src/styles/index.css, tests/chart.spec.js
The page adds accessible form labels and alerts, and the theme selector uses fieldset and legend markup. Styling changes support visible focus, responsive layouts, and theme controls. Browser tests cover layouts, keyboard selection, chart output, downloads, color-scheme changes, and error recovery.

Outside diff Return the actual daily contribution count.

79-79: Major · Data Integrity & Integration · Quick win

Return the actual daily contribution count.

parseDay assigns count from the DOM index, so December 31 receives count: 0 and intensity: "4" in both formats. The fixture supports this case; it does not contradict it. The assignment is pre-existing, but the new {} reducer now exposes these incorrect counts in the intended nested output. Parse each day’s count from the calendar markup and assert it in both formats.

Review comment at @src/utils/api/fetch.js at line 79:
Update parseDay to read each day’s contribution count from the calendar markup
instead of using the DOM index, so December 31 retains its actual count and
corresponding intensity in both output formats.

Replace the Milligram-era look with GitHub's neutrals, IBM Plex Sans, and a
flat layout with the header centered. Plex Mono stays on the username field
because the chart canvas needs that font loaded.

Load buttons.js after hydration, since it swaps its link before React can
hydrate and leaves a plain link behind. Theme radios draw their own circle
because native ones ignore border-radius in Chrome and Safari, which squares
the focus outline. Toasts and first paint now follow the system color scheme.

Outside diff Parse each day’s count from its linked tooltip.

70-81: Major · Data Integrity & Integration · Quick win

Parse each day’s count from its linked tooltip.

contribCount is the annual total from .js-yearly-contributions h2. The current mapping assigns that total to the first DOM cell and 0 to every other cell. Both flat and nested responses therefore contain incorrect daily count values.

The day cell does not contain its own count attribute. Its id links to a <tool-tip for="...">N contributions...</tool-tip> element. Parse that tooltip at the mapping boundary.

Review comment at @src/utils/api/fetch.js around lines 70 - 81:
Update parseDay to derive each day’s count from the tooltip linked by the day
cell’s id, parsing the contribution number and defaulting to zero when it is
unavailable. Use this count in the returned value and remove the index-based
count logic from both the flat mapping and nested reduction that call parseDay.

Dark Reader only trusts an exact "dark" value. With "light dark" it samples
pixels instead and gives up when one lands on a light theme swatch, so
detection depended on the window size.
