Summary

The server's rejection of the client certificate after the TLS 1.3
handshake arrives at the proxy either as a clean close or as ECONNRESET,
depending on timing and platform. The latter makes the proxy serve its
503 error page, so the test should accept both outcomes.

Hi, I'm the Playwright bot and I took a first look at the CI failure.

🟢 The failure is a confirmed pre-existing MCP flake

The failing download test is unrelated to this PR's client-certificate assertion change and has failed on an unrelated PR before.

Details

Overall: this PR only changes tests/library/client-certificates.spec.ts to accept either a connection error or the proxy's 503 response. It does not reach MCP download handling or tests/mcp/files.spec.ts.

Pre-existing flake / infra

  • [chrome] › mcp/files.spec.ts:143 › clicking on download link emits download (@mcp-windows-latest-chrome) timed out after seeing the "Downloading" event but not the later "Downloaded" event. The same [chrome] test failed on unrelated Firefox/WebSocket PR chore(firefox): remove the WebSocket handshake Worker workaround #42455 at sha 981cc8e (@mcp-macos-latest-chrome). That PR only changed Firefox WebSocket implementation and tests, so it could not have caused the MCP download failure. This confirms the failure predates and is independent of the client-certificate change here.
