Summary

Introduces the Atlas Neutral default theme and role-based navigation bars in Atlas Core (PAG-3015), released as 4.6.0. Minimum Mendix version stays at 11.0.

The styling comes from the prototype in Atlas_Core_v5.mpk and was applied as a three-way merge on top of 4.5.1, so the fixes released after 4.4.0 are kept.

What changed

Atlas Neutral default theme (themes/_theme-default.scss)

  • Brand colors: navy primary (#243b53) instead of blue (#264ae5), with quieter success, warning and danger colors
  • System font stack instead of Poppins (Poppins is still shipped)
  • Corners 2 / 4 / 8px instead of 4 / 8 / 12px, default is now --border-radius-m
  • Page, text and border colors are neutral grays, no longer tinted by the brand color
  • Soft labels and badges, neutral default button, quieter grid hover and selection, flat cards
  • Focus outline is drawn inside the element (--focus-outline-offset: -2px)

Navigation bars by role

  • New --bar-primary-* and --bar-secondary-* variables and a bar-role() mixin in layouts/_layout-atlas.scss
  • Each layout has one primary bar and at most one secondary bar: in Atlas_SideBar the sidebar is primary and the top bar secondary; in Atlas_Default it is the other way around
  • Atlas no longer sets the region variables (--topbar-bg, --sidebar-bg, --navsidebar-* and --navtopbar-* colors, --navbar-brand-name) or the shared --navigation-* colors. They are still read first, for example var(--navsidebar-bg, var(--sidebar-bg, var(--bar-bg))), so themes that set them keep their look

Navigation details

  • Sidebar labels align in one column, sub-item icons are centered in the parent icon column, items are full width with a 40px icon box
  • The current page shows a 2px inset bar
  • Collapsed sidebar: labels and app name fade out instead of wrapping
  • Language selector text follows the color of the bar it sits in

Other

  • Hover highlight for cards with an on-click action (.card[role="button"]), disabled under prefers-reduced-motion
  • Styling for the app logo (sidebar-brand-logo) and app name (sidebar-brand-name)
  • New public/logo.svg (default app logo) and public/com.mendix.charts.json (10-color chart palette)

Fixes

  • Top bar active item and sidebar hover selectors never matched
  • var(--navtopbar-bg-secondary, --navtopbar-bg) lacked the inner var(), so the fallback was the literal text
  • Release script: gh release create failed when the changelog contained an apostrophe. Arguments are now shell-quoted (scripts/release/module-automation/commons.js)

…re 4.6.0

Model changes that go with the Atlas Core 4.6.0 theme source (mendix/atlas#348):

- Add non-persistable entity Atlas_Core.AppInfo (AppName, LogoUrl) with
create/read/write access for the User and Administrator module roles
- Add JavaScript actions JSA_GetAppName and JSA_GetAppLogoUrl
- Add nanoflow GetAppInfo and snippet AppInfo (logo and app name)
- Atlas_Default, Atlas_TopBar, Atlas_SideBar: replace the static logo image
  with the AppInfo snippet
- Atlas_SideBar: use LanguageSelectorWidget in the top bar
- LanguageSelectorWidget: remove the Contrast color, the text now follows
the bar it is placed in
- Replace the Content.Mendix image with the Mendix brandmark

The project stays on Mendix 11.0.0.73100.
