You can link from one Markdown file to another. GitHub also enables deeplinking to section headings, and this works both for linking from Moodle to a section as well as for linking between Markdown files. You might want to keep the section headings simple so that they do not need to be modified, and give detail the text.
You can obtain the deep links from GitHub by pointing at the heading, and obtaining the deep-link by right-clicking the chain icon on its left side and by copying the link. The link is of form like https://github.com/hamk-uas/farmdata/blob/main/2026/Luennot.md#1-luento-28102026. If you link from another Markdown file in the same folder, you can use a relative link Luennot.md#1-luento-28102026. Relative links are better in the sense that even if the repository is moved or renamed, the links continue to work. You can also link to a subfolder, for example the repo's README (the current file) would use the relative link 2026/Luennot.md#1-luento-28102026. Linking through a parent folder would work as ../2026/Luennot.md#1-luento-28102026, for example to link to the previous year's lecture notes in 2027.
Store images in organized subdirectories under 2026/assets/ or in the current year's equivalent folder. Supported formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, SVG.
To include an image in a Markdown file, use the following syntax:
Important: Image paths are relative to the location of the Markdown file itself, not the repository root.
Examples:
-
For files in the repository root (e.g., README.md):
 <img src="2026/assets/analyzing-data/media/image5.png" style="width:5.83333in;height:3.36458in" />
-
For files in
2026/subdirectory (e.g., Lectures.md, Harjoitus1.md): <img src="assets/analyzing-data/media/image5.png" style="width:5.83333in;height:3.36458in" />
-
For files in nested subdirectories, use
../to go up:
