What this adds

Mobile API 1.7.0 gives the Android app a native staff area (admin and staff accounts), an offline catalogue and a personal loans calendar, plus several web fixes found along the way. Nothing in the plugin depends on new core code: requires_app is unchanged.

Staff area (/api/v1/staff/*, admin and staff only)

Every route sits behind the app token, the quota and a role guard that re-reads tipo_utente on each request. /health advertises one staff_* flag per area, true only when its routes are mounted and its plugin/table exists (StaffAreas is the single source of truth). Writes are delegated in-process to the same web controllers, with the PHP session isolated around each call (Delegation), so hooks, locks, activity log and emails behave exactly as on the web.

  • Cataloguing: books (create/update/delete, ISBN/EAN lookup through the full scraping pipeline incl. Scraping Pro, duplicate detection), authors, publishers, genres, shelves and levels, per-copy management, series (tree, rename, merge, order, bulk assign, parent work), merge duplicates (authors with duplicate detection, publishers, genres), book and copy label PDFs with label settings, CSV and LibraryThing import with a token-scoped resumable job store, cover fetch/sync and bulk enrichment.
  • Circulation: desk counters, loans by bucket, create (with copy code, idempotency key), edit, approve/reject, confirm/cancel pickup, return (quick or with copy outcome and penalty), return by scanned copy code, renew, bulk extend, reminders (single/bulk), receipt PDF and email, reservations CRUD with queue, user search with eligibility, per-user availability calendar. Retrying a create with the same Idempotency-Key returns the first loan instead of lending a second copy.
  • Plugin content: Desiderata offers workflow and direct receipt, Archives (units, authorities, attachments, publishing), Periodicals desk (issue lookup by barcode/ISSN, receive/claim, years, issues, subscriptions), Book club staff management (clubs, workflow, members), FRBR works and expressions, digital file upload.

Offline catalogue (GET /catalog/sync)

Keyset delta feed with the same visibility as /catalog/search, 30-day tombstones, a shared server-time watermark with a 5 s look-back and a full_resync signal. Author, publisher and genre renames and merges move libri.updated_at of the linked books in the same transaction (BookChangeStamp + DbAtomic), so the next delta carries the new names.

Personal loans calendar

GET/POST/DELETE /me/calendar[/token] and the public GET /calendar/feed/{token}.ics: the owner's loans (start to due date, or to the pickup deadline) and active reservations, no personal data, stable UIDs, SEQUENCE and a reminder. The token is revocable and revoked with the other credentials on a password change or a suspended account.

Language

The app sends Accept-Language; a new middleware answers labels and messages in that language when the installation has it (Content-Language echoes the choice).

Web fixes

  • The anonymous /calendar/events.ics published every borrower's name and email: it now serves the same events without personal data. Admin and staff get a per-operator link (re-checked on every fetch) from the dashboard; admins can regenerate it. The static file under storage/calendar is rewritten once per version if it still holds personal data.
  • Renaming a series changing only case or accents deleted the series and its memberships (core SeriesRepository), on the web too.
  • Registration settings can hide gender and tax code everywhere, Mobile API included.
  • Author and publisher pages: padded cards on phones and whole covers; month view of every calendar works on phones; FullCalendar's leftover English texts are translated.
  • A failed publisher update now shows an error instead of a 500, without logging raw database messages.

Tests

New specs for every area (staff, circulation, copies/series, imports, plugins, tier 2 bridges, sync, calendar, library calendar privacy, registration hidden fields, phone layouts), unit and integration tests (BookChangeStamp, series rename, locale negotiation, staff tables, calendar), and one idempotency-manifest row per new path. The behavioural tests were checked to fail on the previous code. The local CI quality mirror, PHPStan level 5 and full-test.spec.js are green.

Part of fabiodalez-dev/Pinakes-Android#39, fabiodalez-dev/Pinakes-Android#32 and fabiodalez-dev/Pinakes-Android#33 (the app side is in the Android repository).

Admin and staff accounts can now manage the catalogue from the companion app
under /api/v1/staff, behind a new role guard (any other role gets 403
forbidden, re-checked on every request):

- lookups for the book form, ISBN/EAN lookup through the full scraping
pipeline with duplicate detection, and an operator book search that also
  lists wanted titles;
- book create and update delegated in-process to LibriController::store()
and update(), so hooks, identifier locks, copies, collocation, series and
the activity log behave exactly as from the web form. A PUT re-posts the
complete current record, so absent keys keep their value and only the
  sent fields change;
- copies, cover upload (re-encoded with GD) or cover from URL, and soft
  delete guarded by the same active-circulation check as the web;
- authors, publishers, genres, bookcases and levels, with merge-style
updates that keep the fields the app does not edit.

The circulation check lives in the plugin (pinned to the core queries by a
unit test) so requires_app stays unchanged. Every new route is documented in
the OpenAPI document and has its two-call row in the idempotency manifest.
GET /api/v1/catalog/sync lets the app keep a local copy of the public
catalogue. Without `since` (or with one older than the 30-day tombstone
window) it returns a full resync; with the previous server_time it returns
only what changed since: edits as upserts, soft deletes and withdrawn
(wanted again) titles as deletes. A wanted title that never reached the
catalogue is never announced, following the same rules as ResourceSync.

Pages are keyset-ordered on (changed_at, id) and all pages of one pass share
the database-clock watermark carried in the cursor. The health payload
advertises catalog_sync.
Borrowers can subscribe their calendar app to their own loans:

- GET /me/calendar shows the subscription, POST /me/calendar/token creates
or rotates the secret URL (the old one stops working at once) and
  DELETE /me/calendar/token revokes it;
- GET /calendar/feed/{token}.ics is public, because calendar clients cannot
send a bearer token: the 256-bit token in the path is the credential. It is
stored only as a sha256 hash plus an encrypted copy, so the app can show
  the same URL again.

The feed lists only the owner's approved loans, without any name or e-mail
address, with the same UIDs as the library calendar, SEQUENCE taken from the
loan's updated_at, a reminder the day before the due date, RFC 5545 escaping
and 75-octet folding. It answers 304 to a matching ETag and 404 for unknown
or revoked tokens, a disabled app access, catalogue mode or a suspended
account.

The token table is created by ensureSchema() and declared in
expectedTables(), so existing installations get it on upgrade or on the next
boot; the unit test drives that through PluginManager.
The version bump makes PluginManager re-run onActivate() on upgrade, so the
calendar token table reaches installations that already run the plugin. The
changelog replaces the stale 1.4.4 entry, and docs/api.MD points to the
OpenAPI document for the staff, sync and calendar routes. requires_app is
unchanged: the plugin uses no core API newer than before.
The personal calendar feed URL is a credential: whoever holds it reads the
owner's loans. CredentialRevoker::revokeAll(), which a password reset or
change runs, now revokes it together with the remember-me sessions and the
device tokens, through the same guarded path (the table belongs to the
optional Mobile API plugin and is skipped only when absent). The result
gains a `calendar` count; the existing keys are unchanged.

Token resolution also requires the owner to be allowed to sign in (active
and verified, the rule AppAuthMiddleware applies), so suspending an account
closes its feed at once, without waiting for a revocation.

Tests cover a password change through POST /me/password, a suspended,
expired or unverified owner, and revokeAll() on the token table.
A PUT carrying only authors_new or publishers_new used to replace the whole list, so adding one author dropped every existing one. Each key is now independent, as the OpenAPI description already said: author_ids / publisher_ids replace, an absent key keeps the current links, the *_new keys only add. I also moved the create-time reference validation inside the try block so a database failure there still answers with the API envelope.
…lendar

/calendar/events.ics (and its legacy /storage/calendar alias) needs no login and has a guessable URL, yet every event description carried the borrower's full name and email address. The anonymous feed now keeps the same events without personal data, so existing subscriptions keep working. The dashboard hands operators a link with an HMAC token derived from the existing per-installation calendar secret; only that link includes borrower details, and it is served with a private Cache-Control. The generated file under storage/calendar follows the anonymous rule. tests/library-calendar-privacy.spec.js covers the three cases and fails on the previous code.
…t its constructor

tests/desiderata-visibility.integration.php instantiates CatalogController through reflection without calling the constructor, so the new operatorView flag was read before initialization. A false default keeps every such instance on the public visibility predicate.
Settings -> Registration gets a "Campi visibili" group with two switches, show_sesso and show_cod_fiscale, stored next to the require_* toggles and mapped in ConfigStore. Both default to on, so existing installs change nothing.

When a field is off it disappears from the public registration form, the member profile, the admin user create/edit forms and the admin user detail. Every save path keeps the value already stored for a hidden field (profile, admin edit, PATCH /me), and registration ignores it even if a crafted request sends it. Exports are untouched.

Mobile API: /auth/registration-fields gains profile_fields with a visible flag for data_nascita, sesso and cod_fiscale (builtin_fields is unchanged), /health mirrors it as show_sesso / show_cod_fiscale, and /me omits hidden fields and lists them in hidden_fields. The OpenAPI document describes the new shape.

I added an E2E suite that drives the whole flow as admin, visitor, member and app, a DB-backed unit test for the setting mapping, and the new strings in all five locales.
On the admin author and publisher pages every card used .card, whose padding main.css removes below 768px, so the info card (total books, created, updated) and the catalogue had their text against the border. They now use the same wrapper as the user detail cards (bg-white border border-gray-200 rounded-lg p-6), which keeps its padding at every width.

Book and article covers in those catalogues switch from object-cover to object-contain inside the same fixed box, like the book record, so a cover is never cut; the hover zoom that cropped it on desktop is gone.

The new phone-width E2E test measures the card insets, the painted cover size against its box and the page width on both pages.
Below 768px main.css turns every table into a scrolling block. FullCalendar draws its month grid with tables, so on the dashboard and on the book copy availability calendar the "Mese" view collapsed to a 4px strip. admin-ui.css gives .fc tables their table layout back on phones; the list view and desktop are unchanged.

On the new loan form flatpickr replaced its availability-coloured calendar with the native date picker on mobile browsers, so a librarian on a phone never saw which days were taken. Both pickers now set disableMobile, as the public loan request calendar already does.

The new E2E test opens every month calendar at 375px with an Android user agent (dashboard, book copy calendar, public loan request, new loan) and checks the month grid size, that it stays on screen and that the page does not scroll sideways.
The standard FullCalendar bundle ships no locale files, so with any locale the empty list said "No events to display" and the overflow and all-day labels stayed English. Both admin calendars now pass those texts through __(), translated in every locale; the phone calendar spec checks the empty message follows the app language and fails on the previous views. The mobile-api changelog now mentions the hidden registration fields.

Important

The new operator calendar link is built for every role that can open /admin/dashboard, and that includes patrons. Any standard/premium account therefore receives a permanent URL that publishes every borrower's name and email. Two smaller data issues sit in the new API: the offline sync never picks up author, publisher or genre renames, and a staff PUT that re-sends the current shelf moves the book to the end of that shelf.

Reviewed changes

This is a first review of the full PR at b1d1a62: Mobile API 1.6.0 plus the core calendar-privacy, registration-visibility and phone-layout fixes.

  • Staff content area — new /api/v1/staff/* routes behind StaffRoleMiddleware. Book create/update are delegated to LibriController::store()/update() through a mock form post. A PUT re-posts the full stored record with the JSON patch applied on top.
  • Offline catalogue sync — GET /catalog/sync is a keyset delta feed with a watermark, tombstones and full_resync.
  • Personal loans calendar — revocable per-user secret ICS feed. Revocation is wired into CredentialRevoker.
  • Library calendar privacy — the anonymous /calendar/events.ics drops names and emails, and a ?token= HMAC link restores them for operators.
  • Hideable registration fields — show_sesso / show_cod_fiscale across registration, profile, the admin forms and the mobile API. Stored values are preserved on save.
  • Phone layout fixes — author/publisher cards, FullCalendar month view, flatpickr disableMobile and the FullCalendar text translations.

What I checked locally:

  • scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes.
  • php -l is clean on every changed PHP file.
  • tests/mobile-api-staff.unit.php reports ALL 71 PASS.
  • The calendar and registration unit tests need a DB, so I could not run them.
  • The cover upload/URL path re-encodes with GD and reuses core's SSRF-guarded fetcher, so it adds no new attack surface.
  • The staff PUT merge otherwise preserves contributor roles, secondary series, publishers, digital URLs and the plugin columns.

The author and publisher pages no longer use group-hover:scale-105, so the purged Tailwind build drops that rule; the committed asset still had it and the reproducible-build checks failed on the diff.

… file

The dashboard route is shared with patrons, yet the tokenized calendar link was built for every role, and its token was one global HMAC that could never be withdrawn. Only admin and staff now get a link, bound to their own account (op + token derived from a dedicated library_ics_secret) and re-checked on every fetch: a demoted, suspended or deleted operator falls back to the anonymous variant without personal data, and deleting the secret revokes every operator link without touching the per-loan links sent by email. Installs that serve storage/calendar straight from Apache kept publishing the file written by earlier releases, so the once-per-version plugin maintenance pass now rewrites it when its descriptions still carry an email address, or removes it if the rewrite fails.
Renames and merges only touch the related tables, so /catalog/sync (and ResourceSync) kept serving the old names until a full reload. BookChangeStamp moves libri.updated_at of the non-deleted books linked to the renamed author, publisher or genre. The sync also looks back five seconds behind since, so a write committed just after the previous watermark is not lost; re-sending a few rows is harmless. tests/book-change-stamp.integration.php drives the real repositories, the public ICS self-heal and the operator link checks.
…uthor and publisher counts

Re-sending the shelf and level a book already has, without a position, made the core pick the next free slot and moved the book to the end of the level; the stored position is now kept, while a different level still gets the next free slot. Author and publisher responses gain books_count, created_at and updated_at so the app's card matches the web page. The circulation check doc now names the right test file.

✅ No new issues found. All five findings from the previous review are fixed, and the fixes hold up.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the three commits pushed since the last Pullfrog review (7b4c0ab..96ba17a).

  • Restricted the operator calendar link to staff — only $isAdminOrStaff users get a tokenized link. The token is now per operator (?op=<id>&token=…) and derived from a dedicated library_ics_secret. libraryFeedOperator() re-checks on every fetch that the account is an active admin or staff member, so a demoted or suspended operator's link falls back to the anonymous feed.
  • Cleaned up the stale public .ics — MaintenanceService::healPublicIcsFile() runs from the per-version plugin maintenance pass. It rewrites storage/calendar/library-calendar.ics without personal data when a DESCRIPTION still holds an email, and deletes the file if the rewrite fails.
  • Made renames reach the offline sync — the new BookChangeStamp bumps libri.updated_at on non-deleted books after author and publisher updates or merges and after genre updates. Publisher lookups include the libri_editori secondary links. parseSince also looks back 5 seconds to catch late commits.
  • Kept a book's position on a same-shelf PUT — StaffBookPayload keeps the stored posizione_progressiva when the shelf and level are unchanged and position is absent.
  • Added books_count, created_at and updated_at to the staff author and publisher payloads, and documented them in StaffOpenApi. These are single-entity endpoints only, so the per-row count adds no N+1 queries.
  • Fixed the test path in the BookCirculationCheck docblock.

What I checked:

  • php -l is clean on every changed PHP file.
  • tests/mobile-api-staff.unit.php reports ALL 71 PASS.
  • The new tests/book-change-stamp.integration.php and the spec files need a DB or browser, so I did not run them.

…a revoke error

generate(), saveToFile() and the description helpers now default to no personal data, so a caller that forgets the flag publishes nothing; the per-loan file emailed to the borrower passes true explicitly because it is their own. CalendarTokenService::revoke() threw nothing when its UPDATE failed, so the API answered enabled:false while the feed URL kept working; it now raises like rotate() does.

✅ No new issues found. Both hardening changes are correct, and no existing caller changes behavior.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the single commit pushed since the last Pullfrog review (96ba17a..343cd80).

  • Made borrower details opt-in in IcsGenerator — $includePersonalData now defaults to false on generate(), saveToFile(), fetchEvents() and both description helpers. generateForLoan() passes true explicitly for the borrower's own emailed per-loan file. Every other caller already passes the flag (web.php uses generate(true, $operatorFeed), MaintenanceService uses saveToFile(..., true, false)), so output is unchanged.
  • Made a failed calendar revoke fail loudly — CalendarTokenService::revoke() now closes the statement and throws when execute() fails. CalendarController::revoke catches \Throwable and answers 500 internal_error instead of reporting enabled: false while the feed URL still works.

php -l is clean on both changed files.

A Regenerate link button, shown to admins only and confirmed first, deletes the dedicated library_ics_secret so every operator link copied so far falls back to the anonymous feed, while the per-loan links emailed to borrowers keep their own secret. The POST route sits behind CSRF and AdminAuth and re-checks the admin role inline, since AdminAuth also admits staff. The privacy spec rotates the link through the real UI and checks the old link loses borrower details while the new one keeps them.

✅ No new issues found. The new regenerate action is correctly restricted to admins, CSRF-protected, and reliably withdraws every earlier operator link.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the single commit pushed since the last Pullfrog review (343cd80..dd14671).

  • Added an admin-only POST /admin/calendar/rotate-link. It sits behind AdminAuthMiddleware and CsrfMiddleware. Because AdminAuthMiddleware also lets staff through, the route adds its own tipo_utente === 'admin' check. The route calls the new LoanCalendarLinks::rotateLibraryFeedSecret(), which deletes the calendar/library_ics_secret row and throws if the delete fails. secret() reads that row straight from the database rather than through the ConfigStore cache, so the dashboard reload right after the redirect already gets a new secret and a new link. The per-loan links emailed to borrowers use loan_ics_secret and are not affected.
  • Added a "Rigenera link" button to the dashboard. Only admins see it. It asks for confirmation (SweetAlert, with a fallback to confirm()) before submitting, and it reports the result through the existing flash messages.
  • Added translations and tests. The five new strings are translated in every locale. Two new privacy specs check that the old link turns anonymous and the new one keeps borrower details, and that an anonymous POST is rejected.

php -l is clean on the changed PHP files, and scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes.

…s in tests

Both specs write the registration settings straight into the database and then cleared ConfigStore from a CLI process. In CI the web server keeps those settings for 60 s in APCu, which no CLI process can reach, so /health could still report the previous require_* values and test 7 of mobile-api.spec.js failed depending on timing. clearConfigCache() now also calls the shared flushCache() helper, which hits /_e2e/flush-cache inside the app process.
…estores the install locale

The spec flips languages.is_default and app.locale with direct SQL, but the language list is cached for five minutes inside the web server (APCu in CI). After the restore, the specs that followed in the same shard still rendered German routes and labels: mobile-tabbar saw Startseite/Katalog/Anmelden and openurl-resolver got /zeitschriften/ links. The spec now calls the shared flushCache() helper after both writes.

Comment thread app/Support/BookChangeStamp.php Outdated
BookChangeStamp only logged a failed UPDATE, so a rename or merge could succeed while libri.updated_at stayed put and the offline sync never saw it. It now throws, and the writes run as one unit: author, publisher and genre renames go through the new DbAtomic helper (own transaction, or the caller's when one is already open, detected with the same autocommit + SAVEPOINT probe), and author and publisher merges stamp the books inside their transaction, before the commit. CredentialRevoker::atomically() now delegates to DbAtomic, with no change in behaviour.
Scraping sources often return the same person in both forms ("Primo Levi" and "Levi, Primo"), and the app preview listed both. The preview now merges them through AuthorNormalizer, the same canonical form the save path uses.

✅ No new issues found. A failed publisher save from the web form now shows the operator an error and no longer reaches Slim's error handler.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the single commit pushed since the last Pullfrog review (b6db2b4..b8ee49c). The commit in between only changed tests.

  • Handled publisher update failures in EditorsController::update. The PublisherRepository::update() call is now wrapped in try/catch (\Throwable), and the exception is logged through SecureLogger::error. A thrown exception (for example the change stamp rolling back the rename inside DbAtomic::run) and a plain false from a failed execute() both set $_SESSION['error_message']. The redirect to /admin/publishers stays the same, and layout.php already shows error_message on every admin page, so the operator sees the message.
  • Added the new error string to all five locales.

php -l is clean on EditorsController.php, and scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes.

…le API

The staff API runs the admin controllers in-process. Those controllers leave flash messages, form drafts, import job state and one-time form tokens in the session, so a delegated call could leak them into the next page a browser renders with the same session. Delegation takes every such key out before the call, captures what the action wrote and restores the prior values afterwards, also when the action throws. StaffBooksController now delegates through it with the same behaviour. The unit test greps the delegated controllers for session writes, so a new key fails there instead of leaking.
Operators can now run the loan desk from the app: desk counters, loans by bucket (pending, pickup, scheduled, active, overdue, history), create with an optional scanned copy code, edit, approve and reject requests, confirm or cancel a pickup, return with the copy outcome and a penalty, return by scanned code, renew, bulk extend, single and bulk recall, receipt PDF and receipt email, reservations with their queue (create, edit, cancel, reactivate), borrower search with eligibility, copy lookup by code, a title's queue and its availability calendar for a given borrower.

Every write is delegated to the web controllers (PrestitiController, LoanApprovalController, ReservationsAdminController) with the form body the admin pages post, so locks, eligibility, capacity, queue promotion, emails and the activity log are exactly those of the website. Core outcome codes map to stable API error codes through CirculationOutcome; the unit test pins every ?error= literal of the core controllers against the tables. A new loan's id is resolved from the high-water mark taken before the call, since the core redirect does not carry it. Partial PUTs merge over the stored row. The whole area answers 404 feature_disabled in catalogue mode.

Also: /health gains the 1.7.0 staff_* flags, /staff/lookups gains series_types, return_outcomes and copy_states[].editable, the OpenAPI document covers every new path and the idempotency manifest has a row for each. Mobile API 1.7.0.

Important

The circulation desk itself is solid: every write goes through the core controllers, and the ?error= mapping covers every literal those controllers emit. The problem is that /health now reports thirteen staff areas as available (copies, series, merges, labels, imports and the plugin areas) when this PR adds no routes for any of them. An app that trusts these flags will show screens that only ever get 404.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the two commits pushed since the last Pullfrog review (b8ee49c..8080a80).

  • Added the staff circulation desk (Mobile API 1.7.0). StaffCirculationController serves the summary, the loan lists by bucket, and the create, edit, approve/reject, pickup, return, return-by-code, renew, bulk extend, recall, bulk recall and receipt actions. It also covers user search, copy lookup by code, and the book queue and availability. StaffReservationsController lists, creates, edits and cancels reservations. Each route sits behind the app token, the quota, the staff role and the catalogue-mode guard. The actions that send email or are scanned are rate-limited.
  • Delegated every write to the web controllers. The calls go to PrestitiController, LoanApprovalController, ReservationsAdminController and CopyController. Locks, eligibility, copy state, queue promotion, availability recalculation and the activity log all come from core. CirculationOutcome turns each core ?error= code into a stable envelope code, and an unknown code becomes a logged 500.
  • Made session isolation a shared helper. Delegation::run() removes the listed $_SESSION keys before the call, captures what the action wrote, and restores the previous values in finally. StaffBooksController now uses it too. The new mobile-api-delegation.unit.php checks the key list against every session key the delegated controllers write.
  • Added reads in StaffLoanReader, StaffCopyReader and StaffPaging. All queries use bound parameters, and the two interpolated identifiers come from whitelists.
  • Added /health flags, OpenAPI docs and the 1.7.0 bump. This also adds series_types, return_outcomes and copy_states[].editable to the lookups.

What I checked:

  • php -l is clean on every plugin PHP file.
  • mobile-api-circulation.unit.php reports ALL 61 PASS, mobile-api-delegation.unit.php ALL 20 PASS, and mobile-api-staff.unit.php ALL 72 PASS.
  • I traced the session-isolation paths: normal return, exception, nested calls, the one-time token, and the role the core guards read. All of them are correct.

Comment thread storage/plugins/mobile-api/src/Controllers/HealthController.php Outdated
Comment thread storage/plugins/mobile-api/src/Controllers/StaffCirculationController.php Outdated
The 1.7.0 health payload listed thirteen staff areas as available although only the circulation desk is registered so far. StaffAreas is now the single source of truth: the plugin mounts an area's routes only when it is listed as implemented, and HealthController sets staff_<area> to true only for such an area whose prerequisite also holds (catalogue mode off, plugin active, collane table present). The OpenAPI document lists only the mounted paths and explains the flag semantics. The unit test checks every flag against the list, and the E2E health test checks that each true flag has its paths served.
POST /staff/loans minted a fresh one-time form token on every call, so the core replay guard never fired: a client retrying after a timeout could lend a second copy when several loans of one title are allowed, and two concurrent creates could resolve to the same new id.

Both creates now accept an Idempotency-Key header (or body idempotency_key). The first successful create is remembered for 24 hours per operator in mobile_idempotency_keys; the same key with the same payload answers the original record with 200 and meta.replayed, with a different payload 422 idempotency_conflict. Serialisation uses MySQL advisory locks, because the delegated core controller commits its own transaction on the shared connection: a key lock makes a concurrent duplicate wait and replay, and a per-title create lock makes the high-water mark id resolution belong to this request. The new loan is resolved only when exactly one diretto row processed by this operator lies above the mark; anything else is a 500, never someone else's loan.

Tests: a retry returns the same loan, a different payload is refused, two concurrent creates with one key make one loan, three concurrent creates without a key each get their own loan, reservations follow the same rules; the sandbox unit covers the table on activation, upgrade from 1.6.0 and self-heal, plus key parsing, expiry and lock exclusion.

ℹ️ No new issues. Retrying a staff create is now safe, and /health advertises only areas that are actually mounted. One part of the earlier /health thread is still open: the copy-state lookups and the 1.7.0 changelog still describe routes this build does not serve.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the two commits pushed since the last Pullfrog review (8080a80..a10196f).

  • Tied the /health staff flags to mounted routes. The new StaffAreas keeps one list, IMPLEMENTED = ['circulation']. HealthController now reports staff_<area> as true only when that area is implemented and its prerequisite holds. MobileApiPlugin mounts the circulation and reservation routes, and StaffCirculationOpenApi documents them, only through StaffAreas::implemented(). New unit and spec cases check that every flag reported as true has its paths in openapi.json.
  • Made POST /staff/loans and POST /staff/reservations safe to retry. StaffIdempotency accepts an Idempotency-Key, either as a header or as body idempotency_key, and stores it for each operator and scope for 24 hours in the new self-healed mobile_idempotency_keys table. A retry with the same payload replays the original resource (200, meta.replayed). The same key with a different payload returns 422 idempotency_conflict. Concurrent requests with the same key are serialised through a session-level GET_LOCK, which stays held across the core controller's own commit.
  • Made new-id resolution unambiguous. Each create now runs under a per-title advisory lock. resolveNewLoanId also filters on processed_by (core store() sets it from the mirrored staff session), and both resolvers return null unless exactly one row matches, so the response can never hand back someone else's loan.
  • Added two error strings to all five locales.

What I checked:

  • php -l is clean on every changed PHP file.
  • mobile-api-circulation.unit.php reports ALL 79 PASS, mobile-api-staff.unit.php ALL 72 PASS and mobile-api-delegation.unit.php ALL 20 PASS.
  • scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes.
  • The new mobile-api-staff-tables.unit.php needs a disposable database, so I could not run it here.

A duplicate-key error quotes the offending value, which can be a contact email or a tax code, and SecureLogger does not mask the message field. The controller now logs only the publisher id, the exception class and its code, and logs the plain false outcome too, so both failure paths leave a trace.
…n test cleanup

The loans and reservations route blocks each asked StaffAreas whether circulation is mounted; they are one area, so the plugin now asks once and empties both lists together. The idempotency suite restored loans.max_renewals by deleting the row whenever the saved value was falsy, so a setup that failed before reading it would remove the real setting: it now restores only what beforeAll actually read (no row: delete, a value: update) and flushes the settings cache afterwards.
…es, labels, imports, covers

Copies: a copy can be added with an explicit inventory code (409 duplicate with the copy that already carries it), read, moved between the editable states with notes, or deleted. The plugin runs the refusals of the web copy page first so the app gets stable codes (copy_on_loan, copy_held, copy_in_circulation, copy_has_history); setting a lent copy back to available records the return, as on the web.

Series are addressed by collane.id and delegated to CollaneController: tree, detail with books and related series, create with the parent created by name, PUT merged over the row, rename with an explicit merge, merge, delete with the counts, bulk assign, numbering (also of a secondary membership), removal and the multi-volume parent work. Merges: author duplicate groups, author and publisher merge through MergeHelper (a merged-away id is refused instead of silently skipped), genre merge with the descendant refusal. Labels: the book and per-copy label PDFs of the admin page and the label settings.

Imports: a CSV or LibraryThing upload becomes a durable job in mobile_import_jobs, because a bearer token has no PHP session; each chunk swaps the core's own session array in and out around the delegated web importer, so parsing, matching, scraping and the import history stay the web's. Chunks must come in order (409 out_of_order), run one at a time (409 job_busy) and a finished, cancelled or expired job answers 410. Jobs are private to their operator, the history follows the web rule. Covers and enrichment: missing covers, per-title fetch, the synchronous sync and batch, enrichment statistics and the cron switch.

Each area is mounted through StaffAreas, so /health, /staff/lookups and the OpenAPI document only mention what is served. Specs: mobile-api-copies-series.spec.js, mobile-api-imports.spec.js, idempotency rows for every new path; the sandbox unit covers the new table on activation, upgrade and self-heal.

Important

The new staff catalogue tools have one data-loss path. If the app renames a series to the same name with only different capitals or accents (for example "Foo" to "foo"), the series and all of its book memberships are deleted, and the client gets a 404. The import flow has two smaller issues, noted inline.

Reviewed changes

This run covers the single commit pushed since the last Pullfrog review (a10196f..b4c4c06). The two commits in between only restructured a route check and adjusted test cleanup.

  • Added six staff content areas. copies, series, merges, labels, imports, covers and the LibraryThing TSV export are now in StaffAreas::IMPLEMENTED. A new $mount() helper in MobileApiPlugin registers each area's routes only when that area is listed. Each route sits behind the app token, the quota check, the staff role check and an optional throttle, with no catalogue-mode guard.
  • Delegated the writes to the web controllers. StaffCopiesController calls CopyController::updateCopy()/deleteCopy(), after pre-checks that match core's refusals. StaffSeriesController calls CollaneController/SeriesRepository. StaffMergeController uses the core merge paths, including the same genre-descendant check. StaffLabelsController and StaffCoversController reuse the label settings, the label PDFs, the cover fetch and sync, and bulk enrich. Every one of these web routes is behind AdminAuthMiddleware, which also lets staff in, so the API's admin-or-staff access matches the web.
  • Added resumable CSV and LibraryThing imports. The new ImportJobStore keeps the core importer's session array in mobile_import_jobs (self-healed through schemaSteps()). Before each chunk it loads that array into $_SESSION under Delegation::run(). Owner-or-admin visibility, a per-job advisory lock and an out_of_order check on start make chunk retries safe. Upload deletion is limited to the importers' own directories.
  • Added explicit inventory codes to POST /staff/books/{id}/copies. inventory_number is accepted only together with quantity: 1. A pre-check, a check inside the transaction and a 1062 catch all return 409 duplicate with the existing copy.
  • Gated the lookups by area. copy_states[].editable, series_types and return_outcomes now appear only when the matching routes are mounted. The 1.7.0 changelog no longer lists the plugin areas.

What I checked:

  • php -l is clean on every plugin PHP file.
  • mobile-api-staff.unit.php reports ALL 72 PASS, mobile-api-circulation.unit.php ALL 80 PASS and mobile-api-delegation.unit.php ALL 20 PASS.
  • scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes.
  • mobile-api-staff-tables.unit.php needs a disposable database, so I could not run it here.

… issue already exists

mysqli runs in exception mode, so the INSERT of an existing year (same masthead, year and volume) or of an existing issue number threw instead of returning false, and the friendly duplicate message of the periodicals desk was never reached. The inserts now catch the exception and read its code.
…orks, digital files, periodicals desk, book clubs

Desiderata: the proposal list, accept, reject, receive (creating the copy and closing the request), delete, the requested titles with their open proposals and the direct receipt, all delegated to DesiderataPlugin with stable codes for offer_closed, open_offers and not_wanted. Archives: units and authority records created, edited, published or hidden and deleted through the Archives plugin's own admin actions, with its own validators run first (ArchiveValidator calls them, nothing is copied) so the app gets 422 with the field; cover and document uploads, authority links; reads include unpublished units through an operator view of CollectionsController.

Tier 2: FRBR works and expressions with the book link (frbr-lrm), e-book and audio uploads through the digital-library handler, the periodicals desk in the emeroteca bridge (barcode lookup, receive, claim, new years and issues, subscriptions) and club management in the book-club bridge (clubs, workflow, members). The two bridges mount only when mobile-api ships its staff guard; emeroteca 1.15.0 and book-club 1.5.0.

Every area is listed in StaffAreas and advertised in /health only when served. Specs: mobile-api-staff-plugins.spec.js, mobile-api-staff-tier2.spec.js, idempotency rows for every new path; unit: the archive validator against the plugin's private helpers.

ℹ️ No critical issues in the two new commits — two minor suggestions inline.

Reviewed changes

This run covers ccc6f7ac and b03912ae, the commits pushed since the previous Pullfrog review at b4c4c06.

  • Mounted the plugin content areas. StaffAreas::IMPLEMENTED now lists all 14 areas, and $mount registers desiderata, archives, frbr and digital_library. Each controller re-checks that its plugin is active and returns 404 feature_disabled otherwise.
  • Added the periodicals desk and book-club staff bridges. MobileStaffModule (/api/v1/periodicals/staff/*) and MobileStaffBridge (/api/v1/bookclub/staff/*) use the same auth → quota → StaffRoleMiddleware stack as $mount, and their delegated calls run through Delegation::run. /health flags each area when the plugin is active and the bridge file is present.
  • Opened an operator view on archives. CollectionsController now returns unpublished units, the published flag and a ?published=all|0|1 filter to staff only.
  • Delegated digital uploads to the plugin. StaffDigitalController calls DigitalLibraryPlugin::handleUploadRequest inside an isolated session with its own CSRF token, so the plugin's size, extension and content checks all apply.
  • Fixed the 500 on a duplicate periodical year or issue. IssueAdminController::executeCatching() catches the mysqli_sql_exception, so a 1062 now shows the duplicate message.

What I checked:

  • php -l is clean on every PHP file in the PR.
  • These unit suites all pass:
    • mobile-api-archives-validator.unit.php (23 checks)
    • mobile-api-staff.unit.php (72)
    • mobile-api-circulation.unit.php (80)
    • mobile-api-delegation.unit.php (20)
  • ci-check-locales.py is clean.
  • The three threads from the previous review are still open, because these commits do not touch StaffSeriesController or StaffImportsController.

collane.nome uses a case- and accent-insensitive collation, so renaming "Foo" to "foo" found the same row under the new name, went down the merge path, merged the series into itself and deleted it together with every libri_collane membership. This hit both the admin rename form and the staff API.

renameSeries() now merges only when the new name resolves to a different row and otherwise renames the row in place by id. mergeSeries() refuses a source and target that resolve to the same row, and deletes the source by id instead of by name. The new unit test runs on a disposable database and fails on the previous code; the staff API spec covers the API and the web rename form for the same case-only rename.

✅ No new issues found. The case/accent-only series rename no longer deletes the series.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 197fddf, the single commit pushed since the previous Pullfrog review at b03912a.

  • Fixed the self-merge on a case/accent-only rename. SeriesRepository::renameSeries() now merges only when the new name resolves to a different collane row, and renames the existing row in place by id. The web form and the API both benefit.
  • Guarded mergeSeries() against same-row names. It returns 0 when source and target collate to the same row. It now deletes the source row by id instead of by name. Because uk_collana_nome is unique, this deletes the same row the old name match did.
  • Added regression coverage. A new case in mobile-api-copies-series.spec.js renames through the API and then through the web form, and checks the row id, the memberships and libri.collana. The new tests/series-rename-same-row.unit.php covers rename, self-merge and a real merge on a sandbox database.

php -l is clean on both changed PHP files. The new unit test needs a disposable database, so I did not run it here. I resolved the series thread. The other four open threads (import cancel race, CSV final-chunk error_details, works expression_id, desiderata non-303) are untouched by this commit and stay open.

DELETE /staff/imports/{id} now takes the same per-job lock as the chunk endpoint, waiting a few seconds, and answers 409 job_busy while a chunk is still running instead of flipping the job to cancelled under it. Cancelling also no longer turns a job that finished meanwhile into a cancelled one.

ImportJobStore::saveChunk() is now a compare-and-set on the running status the chunk sets before delegating, so a chunk that finishes after a cancel can never resurrect the job: it answers 409 job_cancelled with meta.processed, the rows already written stay and the job stays cancelled. The OpenAPI document lists both codes.

The unit test covers the compare-and-set on the store; the imports spec drives both races end to end through a trigger on libri (a slow insert to hold a chunk in flight, and a status flip mid-chunk), and both cases fail on the previous code.
The CSV importer clears its session state on the final chunk, so the job kept the state saved after the previous chunk: error_details missed the errors of the last chunk while the errors counter, taken from the final answer, included them.

The job now takes error_details from the final chunk answer whenever it carries the list (the CSV importer returns the cumulative list, capped at 50) and falls back to the saved state only for the LibraryThing importer, which does not. The imports spec runs a two-chunk CSV with an error in each chunk and fails on the previous code.

✅ No new issues found. A cancel no longer races a chunk that is already running.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 3ecbb80, the only commit pushed since the previous Pullfrog review at 197fddf.

  • Serialized cancel with chunks. StaffImportsController::cancel now takes the same import advisory lock that chunk holds. It waits up to 3 s and then answers 409 job_busy, and it re-reads the job under the lock before cancelling it.
  • Made saveChunk a compare-and-set. ImportJobStore::saveChunk updates only rows still in running and returns whether it saved anything. If the job was cancelled meanwhile, a late chunk now answers 409 job_cancelled with meta.processed and cannot make the job resumable again. Because the status always changes, affected_rows > 0 is a correct "saved" signal.
  • Stopped cancel from overwriting finished jobs. ImportJobStore::cancel is now a conditional UPDATE, so it never turns a completed job into cancelled.
  • Added coverage and docs. The commit adds two e2e cases that use libri triggers to hold a chunk open and to flip the status mid-chunk, extends the DB unit test, documents job_busy/job_cancelled in OpenAPI, and adds a new locale key to all 5 locales.

php -l, ci-check-locales.py and node --check pass. I did not run the new DB/e2e cases here. I resolved the import-cancel thread. The CSV final-chunk error_details thread and the two review-18 threads (works expression_id, desiderata non-303) are untouched by this commit and stay open.

✅ No new issues found. A finished CSV import now lists the errors from its last chunk.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 0515d29, the only commit pushed since the previous Pullfrog review at 3ecbb80.

  • Changed where error_details comes from. StaffImportsController::map now reads summary['error_details'] first. That is the cumulative list (capped at 50) that CsvImportController::processChunk returns on every chunk, including the last one, after core has done unset($_SESSION['csv_import_data']). The job falls back to state['errors'] only when the summary has no list. That happens for LibraryThing, whose chunk response has no error_details, and for a job before its first chunk. The count and the list now agree.
  • Added a regression case. A new e2e case runs a two-chunk CSV with one error in each chunk. It checks the chunk responses and then a fresh GET, and confirms that the second error (Riga 5) is still listed.

php -l and node --check pass on both files. I did not run the new e2e case here. I resolved the CSV final-chunk error_details thread. The works expression_id and desiderata non-303 threads are untouched by this commit and stay open.

POST /staff/books/{id}/work turned any expression_id that is not a clean positive id ("abc", "12x", -3, true, 0) into 0 and delegated it as an empty value, which silently cleared the book's expression. When the key is present it must now be null (clear) or a positive id; anything else answers 422 validation_error with meta.field expression_id before anything is delegated. The tier 2 spec sends each malformed value, checks the expression is untouched, and fails on the previous code.
The desiderata plugin answers 422 both when it refuses an action and when its database write failed and was rolled back. The staff API mapped every non-redirect answer of a delete to 404 not_found and of a direct receipt to 409 not_wanted, so a real failure looked like a stale request.

After a non-redirect answer the API now re-runs the checks it already makes up front: the offer that vanished meanwhile keeps its 404, a title that is no longer wanted or has open offers keeps its 409, and the offer actions return 404 when the offer was deleted meanwhile. Any other answer is a 500 internal_error, logged with the plugin status only. The staff plugins spec forces a failing DELETE and a failing receipt insert through triggers, checks nothing was written, and fails on the previous code.

✅ No new issues found. Both remaining threads from review 18 are fixed.

Reviewed changes

This run covers 27fb3cd and cff8bf0, the two commits pushed since the previous Pullfrog review at 0515d29.

  • Refused a malformed expression_id. POST /staff/books/{id}/work now answers 422 with field expression_id when the key is present, is not null, and StaffPaging::id() does not yield a positive id. This covers "abc", "12x", -3, true and 0. Only null clears the expression now.
  • Answered desiderata write failures as 500. The direct-receipt pre-checks moved into receiveDirectRefusal(). After any non-303 from the plugin, receiveDirect runs those checks again. It returns 404 or 409 only when a named refusal still applies, and otherwise throws into fail() (500 internal_error). delete returns 404 only when the offer is gone, and manage now returns 404 when the row has vanished, where it used to return 500.
  • Added regression cases. Triggers on desiderata_offers force a failed DELETE and a failed INSERT. The test checks that both requests return 500 without leaking the DB message, that nothing changed, and that both succeed once the triggers are dropped. The works spec covers the malformed ids, a numeric string id, and null clearing.

php -l and node --check pass on the changed files. I did not run the new e2e cases here. I replied to and resolved both review-18 threads (works expression_id, desiderata non-303), so no Pullfrog threads are left open on this PR.

When an assertion in the job_busy test fails, the chunk held by the slow trigger used to land after afterAll had already removed the run's books and accounts, leaving a book and the operators behind. The test now always awaits the chunk before dropping the trigger.
The spec's mysql client ran with the client default charset, latin1 for the MariaDB client in PATH, so the accented series names in test 29 were stored and compared mangled and "Álfa" sorted after "Èvent". The helper now passes --default-character-set=utf8mb4, as the other specs that seed accented data already do; the whole spec passes locally.
Status labels, lookups and error messages came back in the installation's language even when the app was set to another one, so an English app showed "Prestato" next to English text. A LocaleMiddleware on the /api/v1 group now negotiates Accept-Language against the installed languages (exact region first, then the same language, honouring q) and echoes the choice in Content-Language; a header naming no installed language changes nothing. Covered by tests/mobile-api-locale.unit.php and a new case in mobile-api.spec.js.

✅ No new issues found.

Reviewed changes

This run covers c1831190. Since the last Pullfrog review (cff8bf0), the only other commits changed tests, and those were checked in earlier runs.

  • Added Accept-Language negotiation to the Mobile API. The new LocaleMiddleware sits inside HttpsEnforceMiddleware and outside the route-level auth, quota and staff middleware. It picks the locale from the installed (active) languages: higher q first, then the client's order. An exact region match wins; otherwise it takes the first installed locale of the same language. It calls I18n::setLocale() and echoes the result in Content-Language. If no installed language matches, the default locale is left alone.
  • Documented the header in the OpenAPI description. The description now says the app can send Accept-Language and that the server answers with Content-Language.
  • Added tests. tests/mobile-api-locale.unit.php is a pure unit test with 11 negotiation cases, and e2e case 9j checks the localized 401 message and Content-Language on /me.

I also checked how this interacts with the rest of the app:

  • Email locale switches restore the request language. NotificationService and EmailLayout switch to the recipient's locale and then restore I18n::getLocale(), not the session locale, so the requested language holds for the rest of the request.
  • No caching across languages. API responses are private or no-store, and HttpCache hashes the translated body into the ETag, so a cached response in one language is never served for another.

php -l and node --check pass, and php tests/mobile-api-locale.unit.php reports ALL 11 PASS.
