Ensemble is a rules-based social simulation engine that accepts an author-defined social world (in JSON) and calculates character desires, actions, and effects for you based on that definition.

It's a Javascript library and little language that you call within the main code of a game or simulation. There's also a GUI authoring tool to help you write your social domain.
