Summary

Remove the CLI's install and update reports to Pi.

Interactive startup previously sent the installed version and platform/runtime User-Agent after acknowledging a changelog checkpoint, even with version checks disabled.

Reasoning

Install reporting is removed entirely, so no replacement ingest service is needed.

Optional provider headers previously shared the install-telemetry control; their independent setting defaults off so existing opt-outs cannot silently become opt-ins.

Changes

• Delete the report request, helper, environment reader, and install-telemetry settings API and UI.
• Add enableProviderAttribution and DIFFEX_PROVIDER_ATTRIBUTION for optional provider headers, defaulting off.
• Preserve changelog display and checkpoint persistence.
• Reject unexpected startup requests in release canaries and add real-CLI regression coverage for installs, upgrades, legacy settings, offline mode, and attribution opt-in.
• Update user documentation and record reproduction evidence in docs/release/install-telemetry-removal.md.

Cloud and landing contain no install-report ingest implementation requiring changes.

Testing

• npm run check.
• ./test.sh with isolated user resources and live-provider E2E disabled.
• Focused install-report, version-update, settings-selector, and SDK attribution tests.
• Real 100x30 PTY smoke: open /settings, search for attribution, toggle it, exit through /exit, verify persistence and zero attempted HTTP requests.
• Source and script scan finds no install-report endpoint or obsolete runtime controls.

Five new startup regressions reproduced the Pi request before removal; all eight startup cases pass after removal.
Network requests and installation commands were intercepted, and temporary client state was removed.
