Problem

Link statistics could count commits that are not visible in the feed, making the totals disagree with the content shown to the viewer.

Change

Applies the same visibility rules to the statistics query as the visible commit list, including approval and blocked-author filtering.

Tests

Focused link controller tests passed (7 tests, 98 assertions). Type checks and lint passed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Link-page commit totals now reflect commits visible to the current viewer, including the viewer’s own pending commits. Commits from blocked users and unrelated pending commits remain excluded.
    • Contributor totals now count the distinct authors of visible commits, keeping the displayed commit and contributor counts aligned with the commits available to the viewer.

Walkthrough

Link statistics now count commits visible to the current user. The controller passes the current user to the stats query. The feature test checks visible commits, blocked-author commits, and pending commits.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Calculate and verify visible commit statistics
app/Queries/LinkCommitsQuery.php, app/Http/Controllers/LinkController.php, tests/Feature/Controllers/LinkControllerTest.php
The stats query accepts a user and counts commits visible to that user. The controller passes the current user. The test expects 3 commits from 2 people and verifies the returned commits.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to bb9c8

Link statistics use the viewer’s visibility rules. No merge-blocking issue was established; organization coverage is recommended.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to bb9c8

The statistics now use the same visibility rules as the displayed commits, with the viewer supplied by the authenticated controller. No newly introduced authorization bypass was identified. The change is narrow, though broader security coverage remains incomplete.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The changed exposure is aggregate information about one selected link. Pending or rejected commits admitted through viewer ownership or organization membership were already eligible for that viewer's feed; statistics do not introduce a broader commit-selection policy.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The links route is inside the authentication middleware group. Its controller receives a CurrentUser parameter and passes that identity to both statistics and feed selection; request input selects the link, not the viewer identity.

Cover organization-visible pending commits in the link test.

The test covers the viewer’s own pending commit, but not a pending commit posted by another organization member. Add one and check both the feed and statistics.

Suggested fix

     $own = Commit::factory()->pending()->for($viewer)->create(['link_preview_id' => $link->id]);
+    $organization = \App\Models\Organization::factory()->create();

+    $organizationCommit = Commit::factory()->pending()->for($poster)->create(['author_id' => $organization->id, 'link_preview_id' => $link->id]);

     $this->actingAs($viewer)->get(route('link.index', ['url' => $link->url]))->assertOk()->assertInertia(fn ($page) => $page

Extend the link feed test to cover a pending commit by another member of the
viewer’s organization: set up a shared organization and create the member’s
commit using the existing `Commit` factory pattern. Update the `stats`
expectations and `commits.data` count and IDs to include that commit, while
retaining the existing visibility assertions.
