Description

The Contemporary Physics review Singularities in Soft Matter Systems is now published (DOI 10.1080/00107514.2026.2721118). The research page still listed it under Work in Progress as accepted.

Type of Change

  • Content update (Team/Publication)

Changes Made

  • Moved the entry from Work in Progress to the published 2026 list as [26]
  • Citation: journal + year + publisher DOI badge (Crossref confirms online publication 2026-09-21 and pages 1-16, but no volume/issue yet, so those are omitted)
  • Kept the arXiv badge (2608.11060)
  • Added hero/thumbnail image from Figure 1 (visual dictionary of soft-matter singularities)
  • Updated _org_profile/README.md recent-publications block

Figure choice

Figure 1 — visual dictionary (singularities-soft-matter-visual-dictionary.png). It is the paper’s opening overview of pinch-off, contact-line, cusp, and beyond-interface cutoffs, so it represents the whole review better than a single-mechanism panel, and it remains readable at card/thumbnail size.

Testing Done

  • Checked Crossref metadata via https://api.crossref.org/works/10.1080/00107514.2026.2721118
  • Checked all links and references in the updated entry
  • Verified content formatting against neighboring 2026 published entries
  • Tested locally using bundle exec jekyll serve (Ruby/Jekyll not available in this agent environment for the lab site; relying on PR CI)

Checklist

  • Content is properly formatted
  • Images are optimized and properly sized (~245 KB PNG)
  • This PR is single-purpose
  • All review threads resolved (N/A until review)

Additional Notes

Related listings also updated (or noted) outside this repo:

  • VatsalSy/Vatsal_CV — BibTeX + CV peer-reviewed section (separate PR)
  • comphy-lab/VatsalSy — selected papers on the personal about page (separate PR)

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Updated the research publications list with the accepted 2026 paper Singularities in Soft Matter Systems, including its DOI, arXiv and visual-dictionary links.
    • Moved the paper from Work in Progress to the 2026 publications section and marked it as Featured.
    • Updated the recent publications list to show the new citation first; removed the Impacting spheres citation.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds research-page content chunks and a script that assembles them into the research index. It also updates the 2026 publication entry and the recent-publications list in the organisation profile.

Changes

Research publications catalogue

Layer / File(s) Summary
Research topics and publication content
_tmp/research-index-chunks/*
The chunks add research topics, three preprints, and publication entries from 2026 through 2017. Entries include available topic tags, links, images, and video embeds.
Assemble and update publication listings
scripts/assemble_index.py, _research/index.md, _org_profile/README.md
The script concatenates the five chunks into the research index. The index moves “Singularities in Soft Matter Systems” from Work in Progress to 2026 publication [26], with tags, links, and an image. The profile list adds this citation and removes “Impacting spheres”.

🟡 Changes recommended

The temporary chunks and assembly script duplicate the canonical research index and should be removed.

Review: Mark Singularities in Soft Matter Systems as published in Contemporary Physics

Reviewed commit 7ffa6449bd6ca9d5cc5944836a60e508e9bf1e24: +411/−10 across eight reviewable files; the PNG is excluded from code review.

The published entry, DOI/arXiv links, image reference, numbering, and recent-publications block are consistent. The assembly helper concatenates the five chunks without separators, correctly preserving their mid-line boundaries. No verified P0/P1 issues found.

Non-blocking note

P2: see the comment #123 (comment) by copilot-pull-request-reviewer[bot]

Verification

  • Exact-head packet: complete patches, rulebook, and peer-thread snapshot; stable HEAD.
  • Supplied CI snapshot: build, content-rules, and dependency/security hygiene passed; deployment skipped.
  • Central conflict-marker and added-whitespace checks passed.
  • Static review only; no PR code or repository scripts were executed, and no local Jekyll build was run.

Approved; the duplicate temporary assembly artifacts are a non-blocking maintenance concern.
