Summary

• Redesign Ember's core workspace, Settings, and secondary surfaces, and remove the Settings fire animation.
• Add an independent click-through agent pointer that does not steal focus from the app Ember is controlling.
• Add shared bidirectional MCP live chat for ChatGPT and Claude with the same desktop-tool access and status/reply protocol.
• Harden tool schemas, structured argument validation, duplicate-call handling, and registry diagnostics.

MCP live chat

The new client-neutral protocol exposes:

• ember_live_connect
• ember_live_wait
• ember_live_set_status
• ember_live_reply
• ember_live_session
• ember_live_disconnect

Ember's composer can explicitly switch between local model chat and MCP chat, stream connected-client status and replies, cancel an active turn, and expire stale sessions safely. ChatGPT and Claude receive the same MCP registry and desktop-control tools.

This does not require a model API key inside Ember. It uses the connected ChatGPT or Claude client's existing access and remains subject to that client's plan and tool-call limits.

Reliability

• Support bounded recursive directory listing, fixing the reported list_directory(recursive=...) failure.
• Validate tool arguments before dispatch and return actionable errors.
• Collapse duplicate parallel tool calls so the same tool/error card does not execute or render twice.
• Add /mcp/doctor and registry consistency diagnostics.
• Keep live waits bounded; clients repeat ember_live_wait after a timeout.
• Package the live MCP module in the desktop build.

Registry diagnostics: 429 declarations, 426 dispatch entries, 424 checked callable implementations, 0 issues.

Validation

• 47 focused MCP bridge tests passed.
• 1,257 broad regression tests passed, 1 skipped.
• Offscreen UI live roundtrip verified: connect → send → status → reply → stop.
