Phone edits can remain unimported when the Mac's iCloud vault contains cloud-only files or unavailable plugin settings. The existing advice to keep the vault downloaded did not distinguish a one-time download from persistent retention.

Require Finder's Keep Downloaded on the entire destination vault, including hidden .obsidian settings, in the README, quick start, full guides and real-device preflight. Add non-destructive recovery steps and verification through the scheduled import and source commit. Explain that file-lock errors alone do not prove offloading is the cause.

This is a documentation-only safeguard. Folderwise does not set or verify Finder's retention preference. Apple's documented download API requests a download; we have not identified a supported public API that guarantees persistent pinning for the external Obsidian vault. The guide links to Apple's instructions and API documentation rather than recommending undocumented attributes or private utilities.
