fix: theme colors after a light/dark switch and in StacApp themes - #508
Conversation
StacApp parsed its StacThemes with its own context, which sits above the MaterialApp it builds, so theme color names inside a theme, such as an app bar's 'primary', resolved against Flutter's default light theme. Each theme is now parsed under a Theme built from its own color scheme, seed, brightness and swatch. StacApp also resolved its themes only once, in initState, so a theme passed later was ignored. It now resolves them again when they change, keeps the current themes while new ones load, and ignores results that arrive out of order. StacAppTheme compares by source, so rebuilding with an equal cloud or network theme doesn't fetch it again.

Stac resolves theme colors and text styles with Theme.of(context) while it parses a widget. listView, gridView and pageView parsed each child inside the list's item builder, using the sliver's context, and after an animated light/dark switch those children kept the old theme's colors while the rest of the screen updated. Each item, separator and page is now parsed inside its own Builder, so it depends on the theme through its own element. gridView also parsed every child for each item it built. It now parses only that item.
StacAppTheme built its network-theme key with a toEncodable that turned any value JSON can't hold into its toString(), replacing jsonEncode's default of calling toJson(). A request body holding a model object then encoded as "Instance of ...", so different bodies could compare as equal and StacApp wouldn't reload the theme. Values now encode with toJson() when they have one, and fall back to toString() otherwise.
Description
This PR fixes two problems with theme colors.
List items keep the old theme's colors after a theme switch (#502). Stac resolves theme colors and text styles with
Theme.of(context)while it parses a widget.listView, gridViewandpageViewparsed each child inside the list's item builder, using the sliver's context. After an animated light/dark switch those children kept the old theme's colors while the rest of the screen updated, so text could end up dark on dark. This also happens when the phone itself switches to dark mode, not only with an in-app setting. Each item, separator and page is now parsed inside its ownBuilder, as the issue suggests and asStacFormalready does, so it depends on the theme through its own element.gridViewalso parsed every child for each item it built; it now parses only that item. One small behavior change: alistViewitem that fails to parse now renders as an empty box. Before, the builder returned null, which could end the list at that item.StacAppresolves theme color names against the wrong theme.StacAppparsed itsStacThemes with its own context, which sits above theMaterialAppit builds.Theme.offinds no theme there, so every theme color name inside a theme, such as an app bar'sbackgroundColor: 'primary', resolved against Flutter's default light theme. A green-seeded dark theme got a green color scheme but a purple app bar. Each theme is now parsed under aThemebuilt from its own color scheme, seed, brightness, swatch and Material 3 setting, so color names match that theme. This applies to bothMaterialAppandMaterialApp.router.StacAppalso resolvedthemeanddarkThemeonly once, ininitState, so a theme passed later was ignored. It now resolves them again indidUpdateWidgetwhen they change. The current themes stay on screen while new ones load, a result that arrives after a newer one is ignored, and the navigation stack is kept. So that this doesn't happen on every rebuild,StacAppThemenow compares by source: cloud themes by name, network themes by their request, and DSL and JSON themes by identity. Rebuilding with an equal cloud or network theme doesn't fetch it again.Verified locally with throwaway widget tests, not committed since the repo doesn't add tests for fixes:
listViewitem, alistViewseparator, agridViewitem and apageViewpage kept the light color after a switch to dark before the change, and switches with it. The same card outside a list served as the control. Also checked on the iOS simulator with an example app, both when the phone's appearance changes and with an in-app setting.StacApp: theme color names in light and dark themes, applying a new theme, andStacAppThemeequality all failed before the change. With it they pass, along with a check that a pushed route survives a theme change.dart analyzereports no issues anddart formatmakes no changes in any package.Related Issues
