[KWin] Gestures stop working after certain (kernel?) updates #477
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.28.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.1.4-202.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Problem
Gestures stop working after certain updates are performed. In addition, InputActions vanishes from the desktop effects settings; it also can't be reenabled in the terminal with
I am not sure which package updates exactly break the desktop effect; I will try to pay more attention to that in the future to find out. Any troubleshooting advise is appreciated.
Side note: I use the qdbus-qt6 command instead of qdbus6 because the latter returns bash: qdbus6: command not found.... I would guess this is not an issue but figured I should mention it.
"Duck tape fix"
Perform full reinstall of InputActions by following the initial installation instructions for KWin. Gestures will work again until the next system (?) update which will break it again.
Expectation
The desktop effect should not be affected by updates.
