Guard the clipboard shim install in DistroRunner.run so an IOException cannot escape the run.

ClipboardBridge.installShims is called before the try block in run(). Its writeText can throw IOException, and that exception escapes the Result return contract. PackageUpdateActivity then runs run() on a background thread with no catch, so the update's completion path is skipped. The clipboard bridge is best-effort, so a shim install failure should be logged and not fail the run.

Clear the Android clipboard on an empty SET.

An empty SET reaches consume as "", but pumpClipboardBridge returns on data.isEmpty() before setPrimaryClip. A guest that clears the clipboard leaves the previous text in the Android clipboard. Remove the early return. Show the toast only for non-empty data.

Bound the pending clipboard read and move its file I/O off the main thread.

pumpClipboardBridge() runs on the main Looper every second. It calls ClipboardBridge.consume(), which calls pending.readText() and pending.copyTo(...) with no size limit. A large guest SET can block the UI thread for a time that grows with its size.

Suggested changes:

  • Check the pending file size before reading it. Reject data above a fixed maximum size.
  • Run the file read and copy in consume() on a background thread.
  • Post the clipboard.setPrimaryClip(...) call to the main thread once, after the background read finishes.

Guard the clipboard bridge install so a shim write failure cannot abort local session startup.

prepareLocal calls ClipboardBridge.installShims with no guard. installShims ignores the result of mkdirs() and calls writeText unguarded. If /usr/local/bin cannot be created or rewritten, the IOException escapes prepareLocal. Its callers do not catch it, so the app crashes instead of opening the terminal without clipboard bridging.

🐛 Suggested fix
-        if (clipGuest != null) {
-            ClipboardBridge.installShims(rootfsDir, clipGuest)
-        }
+        val bridgeGuest = clipGuest?.takeIf { guest ->
+            try {
+                ClipboardBridge.installShims(rootfsDir, guest)
+                true
+            } catch (e: java.io.IOException) {
+                android.util.Log.w("TerminalActivity", "Clipboard bridge disabled", e)
+                false
+            }
+        }

Also pass bridgeGuest as clipboardGuestDir in the ProotLaunch.writeLauncher call. That call is at TerminalActivity.kt:1237, and it currently passes clipGuest.

Catch failures when copying to last, and always remove the trigger.

If the copy to last throws, consume exits before trigger.delete(). Nothing on the main thread catches the exception, so the app crashes. The trigger remains, so the next onResume repeats the crash while the write keeps failing.

Update consume so failures from pending.copyTo do not escape and
trigger.delete() always runs, including when the copy fails; preserve the
existing copy behavior when successful.
