Description

@StudioLE

Summary

The README provides instructions to install deepl CLI with brew, but this fails (see actual behaviour):

deepl-cli/README.md

Lines 65 to 67 in e6aa435

```bash
brew install deepl/tap/deepl
```

Environment

  • DeepL CLI version: N/A
  • Node.js version: N/A
  • Operating system: Bluefin latest-44.20261002.1 (bluefin-dx, Fedora 44 Silverblue)
  • Install method: brew
$ brew --version
Homebrew 7.0.8-32-g8304895

Reproduction Steps

  1. Run brew install deepl/tap/deepl

Expected Behavior

  • deepl to install with brew

Actual Behavior

$ brew install deepl/tap/deepl
==> Tapping deepl/tap
Cloning into '/var/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/Homebrew/Library/Taps/deepl/homebrew-tap'...
fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': terminal prompts disabled
Error: Failure while executing; `/usr/bin/env GIT_TERMINAL_PROMPT=0 git -c core.hooksPath=/dev/null clone --origin=origin --template= --config core.fsmonitor=false --end-of-options https://github.com/deepl/homebrew-tap /var/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/Homebrew/Library/Taps/deepl/homebrew-tap` exited with 128. Here's the output:
Cloning into '/var/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/Homebrew/Library/Taps/deepl/homebrew-tap'...
fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': terminal prompts disabled

Additional Context

_Not available yet — the tap ships shortly after the first npm release. Use npm in the meantime._

Workaround

  • As a workaround I was able to clone and install from source without issue so at a guess the only missing step is the packaging.
