Trees spawning mid air

Cleared some area on the surface using gui/tiletypes remove, but now tree are growing on what used to be ground but is now empty space and then collapsing after some time destroying everything I try to build

gui/tiletypes probably doesn't remove plants. Trees will just reappear whenever they reach a new growth stage until they're properly deleted.

I've got a Lua script for killing trees:

Copy-paste that into the Lua console, then you can enter del_tree() to kill any tree at the keyboard cursor. You can remove the dead branches with gui/tiletypes.
