• Scratch layer: PutScratch/GetScratch write one file per major block, and expiring a major block deletes its file

• History-run lookup is a ~23-pread binary search over a cold 233 MB index: a BPT page read is 149 ms cold vs 45 ms warm, and a joining node's pull slows by the hour as the cache goes cold

• Merges, seals and lookups allocate about 26 GiB an hour at 10 tps: index cursors alone 5.4

• The resident-filter budget is per store: an Accumulate node's 32 stores may hold 256 MiB, and the embedder cannot set or see one bound

• AccountStates read is 17 ms per account: 15-30 deep segment reads (pread) per account state

• After SIGKILL the mutable layer is ahead of the permanent layer: chain heads name elements the store does not hold

• One block = one serial append and one fsync: accept a whole block of permanent entries as a unit

• Compaction has no I/O budget: a pass rewrites 300 MB per shard and starves the seal's barriers

• A put compacts history on the protocol path: KVShard.Put/PutDyna/PutPerm call Compress every 5,000 writes

• Key-management review: six smaller findings (filter parameters, allocation bounds, concurrency, swallowed error)

• A spanning import can strand a segment in the active tier that no key filter covers; its in-window keys read as absent

• Dyna-history lookups walk every segment with one-byte preads: blooms freed by handoffBelowWindow; add fsync duration

• History lookups walk every segment's bloom filter; 18% of a validator's CPU at 500 tps and growing with the segment count

• Measure and fix the API's read path: bloom residency, and the 14-pread binary search behind every filter hit

• Adopt the repository specification standard: SPEC.md

• A seal costs six fsyncs and rewrites the whole manifest; imports pay the same per segment
