Serena memory and Claude.md context files

I have a few context files in .claude in my project, that I maintain carefully to teach Claude specifics of our code base. I wonder how this conflicts with Serena. Serena has build memory files, but they are maybe 10% of the Claude context files. Here are a few questions:

• Can serena use the claude context files ?
• Can I link the directory ?
• Should I tell serena not to use memory ?
• Should I instruct Claude not to use serena memory?

If you are using Serena with Claude, and Claude is still reading the files in .claude as expected, there isn't really a problem. If Serena's memory functionality appears to get in the way, you can disable it by adding the mode no-memories (see #801).

If you want to migrate from .claude to Serena memories, copy/move the contents to .md files in .serena/memories.
